A couple of genius ideas from Santa Cruz

Apart from the bountiful acres of the university farm, we came across a couple of other genius things in Santa Cruz that I wanted to share:

I – a free bike park at the famers’ market. Yes, you can rock up on your bike hand it over to a trustworthy person for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING who will look after it while you shop at your leisure. This is brilliant. It takes away that slight niggling feeling that you’ve left your precious steed somewhere not quite safe, and is a great social space for meeting fellow cyclists too.

II – Freewheelin’ Farm, five miles north of Santa Cruz (unfortunately we didn’t get the chance to visit). They have a CSA programme that they deliver entirely by bicycle – very cool.
